American Idol Finalist Sabrina Sloan Signs Deal With Universal Records Motown

Sabrina Sloan, finalist from season six of the hit Fox television show American Idol, has just signed a record deal with Universal Records Motown. The first project on tap is a duet album with fellow season six contestant, Sundance Head. Recording is set to begin mid-August. The upcoming duet album is slated for release in November 2007, which will be followed by her solo album.

Speaking about the breaking news, Sloan shares, "I can't wait to get into the studio. Sundance is an amazing talent and it's funny that both of us joked about working together when we left the show on the same night and now here we are both signing on with Universal Records. We are thrilled!"

LV= Reports Dog Owners Swap Bones for Broccoli

The latest report from insurance provider LV= has shown that health concerns have led to a surge in pet owners changing their pets' diets and swapping meat for vegetables and fruit.

40% of pet owners now feed their pets up to three portions of fruit and veg a day and according to the new research by pet insurer (http://www.lv.com/insurance/pet_insurance ) LV= there are now more than 145,000 cats and dogs in the UK on a vegetarian diet.

In turning their animals vegetarian, these pet owners are following celebrity dog-owners such as Alicia Silverstone* and Paul McCartney** who feed their dogs a vegan and vegetarian diet respectively.

Aastra Reports Record Revenues

Aastra Technologies Limited - (TSX: "AAH") is pleased to report it generated record revenues in the fourth quarter and for the year ended December 31, 2008 as part of announcing its unaudited financial results for these periods.

Although net earnings in the fourth quarter were impacted by a non-cash asset impairment of certain long-lived assets and goodwill aggregating to $14.1 million and restructuring costs aggregating to $11.3 million, Aastra is pleased to report its 43rd consecutive quarter of profitability this quarter. Excluding these charges, Aastra's fourth quarter operating results reflect a marked improvement from previous quarters in 2008 as Aastra prepares to face the difficult economic environment ahead in 2009.

Houston Doctor Participates in Triathlon for ITP Kids

Jeffrey Ender, D.O., Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at Texas Childrens Hospital in Houston, will run, swim and bike in the Iron Star Half Ironman Triathlon October 24 to help raise money for the non-profit ITP Foundation.

As a pediatric anesthesiologist, Ender has contact with children with ITP (Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura), a disorder which causes bruising and bleeding. While reading TRIATHLON magazine, he came across an ad from the ITP Foundation, which encourages athletes of all levels to join its ITP Team and help it raise funds through participating in sporting events.
